Comments:
After leaving Denver City in August of 1970, I went to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. While attending SAGU, I enjoyed traveling with the Harvester Choir my first year, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in several states and churches across the US. During my second year at SAGU, I traveled with a singing group that ended the year with a five week stay in Hawaii, singing to all of the different areas of the military. Concluding our time there, each member of our group was honored to be inducted as Honorary Chaplins of the USA Army....what a privilege it was to bless those serving in the US military with our ministry knowing it touched their hearts and brought encouragement as they dedicated their lives serving our country. I ended my two years at SAGU graduating with an AA Degree and then transferred to The University of North Texas and after two years there graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. The years I spent getting my college education were amazing and the experiences I had have been unforgettable, but the greatest life changing event was meeting my soul mate, Billy Nickell (from Andrews, Tx) while attending SAGU.
We traveled across the United States for 6 years as Evangelist...loving the experience of making new friends and enjoying mile after mile of our beautiful USA. During this time we had an Airstream Trailer as our little home on wheels , which made it very comfortable for us...especially with us starting our family in 1976 and having both of our daughters while traveling.
In 1980, we were invited to make our home in Canyon, Tx. as pastors of the First Assembly of God Church. For the next 22 years we were blessed living there in that beautiful, small and comfortable community to raise our girls while pastoring the most precious people
. Since then, we have been pastoring Amarillo's First Family Church (First A/G) in Amarillo, taking the pastorate in the spring of 2002.
We have 7 precious grandchildren, 5 boys and 2 girls, who all live here in Amarillo. Our oldest daughter, Felecia, will be graduating from WTA&M in the spring of 2013. She and her husband also pastor here in Amarillo (a church not far from us). Our youngest daughter, Andrea, is a pharmacy tech, but works along with her husband as joint owners of "The Car Lot" on I-40 East here in Amarillo. They and their 3 children attend our church and are also actively involved in ministry there.
We have enjoyed working for the Lord here in Amarillo and just this year of 2012 have completed paying off our church and Family Life Center.
Billy accepted a part time position as Sec/Treas for our District in April of 2010. While continuing his pastorate here in Amarillo, this new position requires us to travel more frequently and has added new experiences to our busy lives....(we just got back from Maui,Hi...a work related trip...just terrible!!! LoL). We are enjoying our family and our lives together as we continue to follow God's Plan for us and our ministry.
I would love to see my DC classmates...so sorry I have been unable to attend any of the class reunions, due to our weekends being the most important work days of the week.
